Really the addition is just ThaumCraft, and some addon mods that makes ThaumCraft useable between other mods.
Then there is EE3 which is there to make diamonds easier to get.

I trust you on the reason aspect. SO everyone have to implement ThaumCraft 3, Thaumic Tinkerer, Magic Bees, and Equivalent Exchange 3.
